Pasig City Museum

The Pasig City Museum was the former residence (Concepcion Mansion) of the late actor Luis Gonzalez of Sampaguita Pictures who was very popular during the 1950s. It is now under the management of the local city government which provides free entrance to its patrons. It is also being used as a venue for special events and projects.

Right at the entrance is the sculpture of Pasig's icon, the Mutya ng Pasig, whose legend is about a woman's misfortunes. There are several versions to the legend and one of them can be read here.

At the first floor, you will find life-sized dioramas and paintings which show the early settlers of Pasig.

The photos below are from its second floor where you will find memorabilia and artifacts including a collection of Philippine Coin and Paper Money.

There is also a roof deck where you can view the town plaza and Pasig Church.

Just around the corner from the museum is Barangay San Jose where you will find the oldest house built in the 1850s more known as Bahay na Tisa.

Street Photography in Pasig City

A few weeks back, I joined a photowalk in Pasig City and finally got the chance to do some street photography. I usually shoot sunsets and nature stuff and so street photography is really a new challenge for me.

While on the pedestrian overpass from the city hall connecting to the various main roads around it, these are the scenes that caught my attention.

Speeding scooters in the pedestrian overpass

The shots below I took along the sidewalks of one of the main streets.

This one was done in the public market. I wanted to capture the enormousness of the market filled with busy people on a typical Saturday morning.

For the last shot, I saw this group of teenage students at the plaza. The statue in the background is that of our national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal, which was pointing directly to the direction of the city hall.
